Dr. Monk was born and raised in the Jacksonville, FL area. She attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree. She also attended the University of Florida College of Medicine for Medical School. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at UF Health Jacksonville in 2005. She has been practicing Emergency Medicine for over 20 years. She also has been extensively involved with Medical Education and Resident Education. She was previously Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at both the University of Florida as well as the University of Central Florida. She serves frequently as an expert witness, specializing in the areas of adult and child sexual abuse.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling the globe with her 3 daughters. She loves the beaches in Florida and the Caribbean, snow skiing in the Rocky Mountains, and traveling abroad.
