When I founded My Virtual Physician in February 2020, the world was on the cusp of a healthcare transformation. We officially launched that summer, right as telemedicine was becoming not just a convenience, but a necessity. Our mission from day one was simple: deliver high-quality, accessible healthcare to patients in all 50 states, regardless of distance or circumstance.
The journey hasn’t been easy. Like any startup, we’ve faced our share of growing pains—balancing patient care, provider satisfaction, and the realities of running a business. We experimented with different staffing models: first hiring employed physicians, then shifting to mostly 1099 contractors, and even trying a hybrid approach. Each iteration taught us something valuable about efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability. Today, I can confidently say our current model is the most economically efficient we’ve ever had.
We’ve had critics along the way—change always invites skepticism. But one thing I’m proud of is our compensation model: $40 per consult. In an industry where telemedicine rates can be inconsistent, we’ve chosen to offer one of the highest rates for general telemedicine in the U.S. I believe fair pay attracts dedicated professionals, and that translates directly to better patient care.
Our core specialties—Primary Care, Gynecology, and Endocrinology—have remained unchanged since our inception. We’ve built our reputation on deep expertise in these areas, while always seeking new ways to serve our patients’ needs. Whether it’s managing chronic illness, providing women’s health services, or supporting patients with endocrine disorders, our focus has never wavered.
Looking back, I’m grateful for the resilience of our team and the trust of our patients. We’ve weathered uncertainty, adapted to new regulations, and continued to grow. As we look to the future, I’m excited to welcome new providers who share our commitment to accessible, high-quality virtual care.
